Next year is filled with exciting new spa openings and wellness experiences waiting to be discovered in the USA and Canada. While the fate of the winter shutdown and travel plans for 2022 remains unknown at the moment, the good news is that we can still dream. While it’s hard to list them all, Spas of America has named some of the health and spa destinations they’d be happy to visit in the new year. Here’s to making 2022 the healthiest year of travel yet.
California – mineral hot springs lure
In 2022, Palm Springs will usher in the exciting The Spa in Sec-he to celebrate the sacred Agua Caliente Hot Mineral Spring. The spa at Sec-he promises to be one of the most luxurious and unique in the United States. This new spa will be the fifth hammam or spa on site; The first work began in the late 1880s. The Spa at Sec-he is sister property of the award-winning Sunstone The Spa on Agua Caliente in Rancho Mirage.
Across the valley in Desert Hot Springs, you’ll be right at home in the new Azure Palm Hot Springs resort, where you can enjoy mineral spring waters and dip into the bathtub in the privacy of your own room. If you can’t spend the night, renting half-day spa suites with in-room bathtubs is an option. Guests who venture to the spa will find 30 treatments on the menu, and spa suite guests have 24-hour access to the Himalayan Salt Room.
Wine country welcomes luxury 5-star spas
The wine country of Northern California will see the launch of two luxury spa resorts. Montage Healdsburg’s Spa is an 11,500-square-foot retreat featuring an array of services and amenities including 11 relaxing treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and an infinity-edge pool.
Less than an hour’s drive away in the historic hot spring town of Calistoga, you’ll find Talisa Spa, Four Seasons Napa Valley. Here guests are encouraged to enjoy views of the vineyards while taking a dip in the garden spa’s Jacuzzi tub and detoxing on the outdoor steam platforms.

North Spa Rush Ontario
The original home of Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain in Collingwood, Canada’s most populous province, will see the opening of two new Scandinavian resorts. In the beautiful Horseshoe Valley, the Vetta Nordic Spa offers an authentic Finnish hydrotherapy cycle of heat, cold and relaxation. Indulge in a massage and treat your senses at the Nordic-inspired restaurant or the spa’s bistro.
Not to be outdone, Groupe Nordik, which operates the Nordic Thermëa spa experiences by Nordik Spa-Nature in Manitoba and Nordik Spa-Nature in Quebec, will unveil Thermëa Spa Village Whitby. This exciting new spa north of Toronto will reveal an entirely new experience offering guests solace, peace and sanctuary.
New York attracts spas with a global vision
The Empire State is one of the busiest spots for slots. Six Senses, the Asian hospitality brand known for its sustainable design and oriental wellness programming, is bringing Six Senses New York Spa to the High Line of New York City. The 45,000-square-foot spa features a sonic meditation dome, a magnesium pool, and fitness studios.
Two miles away, Aman will soon unveil its newest project, the spacious Aman New York Spa, in the historic Crown Building at 57th and Fifth Avenue. The 25,000-square-foot spa will fill three floors, with a 20-meter indoor pool surrounded by fire pits and daybeds as its centerpiece.
Find your way out of town to discover Aurum Catskills New York, a boutique hotel and hammam jointly developed by Steve Gold and Samuel Amoia and which will open in 2022. Located on 131 mountainside acres on Mount Tremper, is the Aurum Therma, a Roman bath and resort Hygienic, is the focal point of the property and will provide a unique bathing experience.
The new luxury spa in Montana
Montana was a popular getaway for visitors, and now there’s another reason to visit – Spa Montage Big Sky. This 10,000-square-foot spa will provide a respite from the fresh-air adventures of Big Sky – any time of year. The spa offers a full-service salon, as well as an indoor swimming pool, men’s and women’s relaxation areas, heated plunge pools, and steam rooms.
Lake Ontario welcomes a luxury boutique spa
A 30-minute drive from Toronto, The Pearle Hotel & Spa is a sister property to the Elora Mill Hotel & Spa, inspired by the lake houses of the past. The hotel and spa is located 300 feet from the shore of Lake Ontario in the heart of downtown Burlington, close to the city’s lakefront park and 450-foot pier. The spa offers a hammam steam room and an indoor pool.
The hottest new spa in Las Vegas
On the site of the former Stardust Hotel and Casino, Resorts World Las Vegas has emerged as the most expensive property ever developed in Las Vegas, with a value of $4.3 billion. A new wellness destination emerges in the desert
Nestled in the Coachella Valley in Palm Springs and within the Santa Rosa foothills at Rancho Mirage, Sensei Porcupine Creek Retreat will take you to a new level of luxury. The resort promises an exclusive six-star guest experience with 50 units on a 230-acre desert estate. Sensei Porcupine Creek will offer spa, nutrition, movement, wellness and sports programs similar to those at its sister property in Hawaii, Sensei Lanai, the Four Seasons Resort.
