Amazon workers in New York make another attempt to form a union

Former and current warehouse workers at JFK8, Amazon’s fulfillment center in Staten Island, New York, have resubmitted an application for a union vote. The workers originally filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board in November, but had to withdraw it after failing to collect enough signatures for approval. This time around, the organizers were reported to have collected more than 2,500 worker signatures or half of the 5,000 people working at the facility.

The workers hope to form the Amazon Workers Union, which will be an independent group not linked to any major national union.
