Don’t worry if you don’t get (or give away) the latest iPad this holiday season — you can still get one at a discount. Amazon is once again selling the standard 64GB iPad for $299, or $30 off its regular price. You can also buy the 256GB version for $449. You may have to wait a while when the 64GB model doesn’t ship until mid-February, but it might be worth it if you’re not in a hurry to get the cheapest tablet from Apple.

The 2021 iPad is another modest update to a core design that hasn’t changed in years, but those changes can make all the difference in some cases. The wide-angle front camera is more suitable for video calls. The A13 Bionic chip is still pretty fast for this class of tablet, and its 10-hour battery life is more than enough for typical tablet uses. There is even a headphone jack – imagine that.

This isn’t the iPad for you if you insist on Apple’s latest technology: You won’t find USB-C, thinner bezels, or second-generation Pencil support. You’ll need an iPad Air (or mini or Pro) for this. If all you want is a big screen for gaming, reading, and a TV marathon, this basic iPad is an easy option at a price like this.
