Audi designed an electric car dedicated to Ken Block’s upcoming Gymkhana video

The Gymkhana series by Ken Block is electrically ready. On Wednesday, the rally driver showed off his new Audi S1 Hoonitron, an electric car built specifically for the block auto industry. Audi hasn’t shared many details about the prototype, but as you can see from the image above, it’s pulling more than a few styling cues from the company’s popular Sport Quattro S1. This is no coincidence. It was that car that inspired Block to continue his career.

Block promised to show what an EV can do in a future video tentatively called “Elektrikhana”. It is unclear if Travis Pastrana will join the device. If you haven’t watched the Gymkhana event, it includes some of the most you’ll see on a closed track. S1 Hoonitron could dramatically change the way Block handles the annual series.

The electric vehicle’s instant torque should aid in the constant drift that the Gymkhana courses take part in. The lower center of gravity can also make cornering tighter. One thing we have to see is if the S1 Hoonitron replicates the sound that the speed limiter makes in a conventional internal combustion engine car. After all, that sound is part of the fun of watching the rally drive.
