I’m not a car guy, but I do enjoy a good drive on an open road and have at least a passing appreciation for a great car. Of course, the unmatched Toyota Prius offers little more than driving excitement. A realistic racing game always seems like a great way to scratch that driving itch, but it’s always very involved and difficult for me.
But my colleague Jess Condit described the Forza Horizon series as “the chill, close-dose of Forza Motorsport, with festival vibes, silly race tracks set in lush environments, and of course a virtual garage full of cool vehicles” in her glowing preview of the game. I’ve been sold, so far Forza Horizon 5 It totally lived up to the hype and praise it received.
A big part of the reason is that it’s the most convenient driving game I’ve ever played. Take the innovative “rewind button”. At first, I would push the throttle to the floor and rarely let go, which made actually taking a turn without erasing something nearly impossible. But the rewind button allows me to try those hard turns again without spoiling the race I’m in or having to start the whole thing over again. I think it helped me get better in the game a lot faster than I would if I had to redo the course every time I took a turn. Without her, I’m sure I would have given up Forza Horizon 5 Pretty quick.
What did you want to get out of? Forza Horizon 5 The ability to drive vintage and modern cars that I didn’t get a chance to own around the beautiful Mexican countryside, and the automatic car tuning feature was another thing that made that dream easy. For people who really want to immerse themselves in it, the toy cars are highly customizable – but I can’t even bother figuring out exactly what anti-roll bars, tires, suspensions, etc. I needed to buy so my 2003 Volkswagen GTI R32 will Keep up with the competition. (Note to Jess: GTI. Every time.)
Fortunately, there is an automatic upgrade feature that can level up your car to various higher levels (C isn’t as big as A, and it isn’t as big as S1, for example). Of course, you’ll need to pay for the parts, but it’s worth the cost to ramp up the number of vehicles you pick without spending an entire day figuring out exactly which parts you want to buy.
