LG unveils DualUp display with unique 16:18 aspect ratio

By and large, the majority of screens and displays have adopted the landscape format. Sure, some users may prefer to orient their screens to portrait mode for better reading of websites, code, etc., but for the most part, landscape is fairly standard.

However, LG is trying to change the situation as the company announced a new display called DualUp that uses a unique 16:18 aspect ratio. As you can see in the image above, the end result is a square/rectangular shaped screen. It measures 27.6 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 2560 x 2880.

It also comes with an Ergo stand that allows the monitor to be attached to your desk instead of sitting on it. According to LG, they claim the screen size and aspect ratio are the equivalent of two 21.5-inch screens if you want to stack them on top of each other. We’re not sure how many users would make this their primary screen, but as a secondary screen that lets you stack apps on top of each other instead of side by side, this isn’t a bad idea.

However, we imagine some users might prefer the flexibility of a more traditional screen so that they can orient it in portrait or landscape mode whenever they want rather than lock it, but that boils down to personal preference. There is currently no information on how much the LG DualUp is expected to cost just yet.
