LG’s loudspeaker with a center woofer will lead the CES audio lineup

LG gave us a glimpse of the audio products it will be showing at CES next year, specifically the crown jewel in the lineup: a premium speaker, which the company claims contains “the world’s first center speaker.” The LG S95QR soundbar has an output of 810W and 9.1.5 channels of surround sound. These are five channels, three of which are on the same speakers and two on the separate rear speakers.

The company says the up-channels deliver realistic sounds, made more immersive through the center speaker that enables clearer dialogue to be delivered. LG’s premium speakers support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X encoding and IMAX titles optimized for 3D sound. The wireless rear speakers that come with it also have six channels instead of four like previous models, with four front/side and two front/side drivers.

Additionally, the model has a more sensitive receiver that allows for greater distance between the soundbar and its accompanying rear speakers and subwoofers. It is designed with a more stable wireless connection to eliminate drops and delays in audio output as well. In its announcement, LG is offering the model as an option for gamers, due to its Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) features that can fine-tune its output and ensure it’s in sync with game consoles and PCs.

The S95QR speaker uses LG’s AI Room Calibration, the company’s automatic volume tuning technology, to analyze the space it’s in to customize its output. It also works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and other AI assistants for voice control. Aside from its audio lineup, LG is showing two types of lifestyle TV models at CES. One is a 65-inch OLED Evo TV focused on design with a motorized cover, while the other is a smaller battery-powered TV on wheels.
