Fourteen years and seven years. This is how long it’s been since fans last saw Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Characters on the big screen. Suffice it to say, it’s plenty of time and If they’re ever going to appear On the screen again, one might imagine every actor She will have some ideas about He. She. if.
As you surely know at this point, there are no more “ifs” left. Maguire and Garfield reprise these roles in a Spider-Man: There is no room for homeIt is now in theaters. Their appearances were considered a top-notch secret, and while most people connected the dots in the months leading up to the film’s release, they were very pleased to see it appear. But they do not appear. Screenwriters Chris McKenna and Eric Summers had to ensure that the roles serve the script as well as the main Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. With both Maguire and Garfield signed, and writers working on pages of script to give them credit, it seems like each actor helped greatly in determining where their Spider-Man would be. This included what happened to them off-screen in the years following the previous films.
“Toby wanted to be very low on how much you know,” McKenna explained. The Hollywood Reporter. “Very minimal. Andrew really liked the idea that he was still being tortured what happened in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 And where did that leave him, and how could they bring that to Tom. We can sympathize with you. We know what you’re going through. If anyone in the world knows what you’re going through, it’s us. But also, “We can be beacons.”
That’s why, in the movie, we know Maguire’s Spider-Man is still with MJ, and he was thinking about the Osborns, but not much. On the other hand, Garfield’s Spider-Man freely admits that he has been to a dark place since Gwen’s murder and hasn’t found a new girlfriend. That each character still struggles to be Spider-Man added to a complex and welcoming dynamic.
“Toby especially came through that darkness,” McKenna continued. “We thought it was cool that Peter Andrew was still in the middle of that darkness. They weren’t just here to go, ‘Two wonderful Jedi Knights who are going to show up and help you take down the bad guys.’ They’re going through their own things. We’ve been trying to write to the characters that They did a great job creating those characters and those stories and those worlds and really believe them so we don’t feel like we’re making a curtain call, fan service.”
