I’m not sure what’s in Sony’s manual when it comes to selling its phones in the US. Take the Xperia 5 III. After leaving for other regions last yearThe phone is now only available in the US for $1,000. This is its high-end, high-end phone, with the flagship Xperia 1 series of smartphones (shown above) even bigger and more expensive.
For this price, this Xperia phone has things to offer. The autofocus tricks, thanks to Sony’s camera arm, are often impressive. The Xperia 5 III can also record 4K video at up to 120 frames per second; It is the first camera smartphone designed for people who are really interested in photography or video. But, this is true for all recent Sony phones. And if you crave truly high-end smartphone photography, perhaps the Xperia Pro-I, with its 1-inch camera sensor, meets the summary more clearly. It’s … just $800 – further proof that Sony’s smartphone prices seem completely separate from its competitors.

Sony’s A7 IV is a successful follow-up to its flagship A7 III line. The resolution is largely up to 33 megapixels, and the overall picture quality is also greatly improved. Video is now on par with competitors in 4K up to 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2 quality. Autofocus is incredible for both video and still photos, and in-body stabilization does a good job. The biggest drawbacks are the relatively high price and the rotating shutter that limits the use of the electronic shutter. Steve Dent puts Sony’s latest and greatest camera to the test. (And I’m a guest-star as a vocal talent.)

In July 2020, we learned that Microsoft had discontinued the Xbox One X and Xbox One S Digital Edition. Now, it has emerged that the company has also quietly stopped manufacturing the Xbox One S by the end of that year, “to focus on production of the Xbox Series X/S,” according to the Xbox Console Product Marketing Manager.

Kristi Stock was sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in a scheme to steal and resell more than 3,000 iPods intended for Native American students. The charges against Stock included tax fraud and transportation of stolen goods. Stock was supposed to use the federal grant money to purchase iPods for distribution to students. However, with the help of other conspirators James Bender and Saurabh Chawla, the group ended up shipping the stolen iPods to Maryland where they were listed on eBay before being sold for a “big” price.
According to the commission, the company’s responses so far have been “insufficient”.
A congressional select committee investigating the January 6 rebellion in the U.S. Capitol has called in the owner of Facebook, Meta, Google, Twitter and Reddit. Two key questions for the Select Committee are how the spread of disinformation and violent extremism has contributed to the violent attack on our democracy, and what steps — if any — have social media companies taken to prevent their platforms from being a breeding ground for people’s radicalization to violence, Committee Chair Benny Thompson (D- MS) said.
