When the clock strikes midnight to ring in 2022 on the East Coast, NBC Sports Network will be closed. It will shift much of its sports coverage, including matches, to USA Network.
Assuming no more games are suspended due to too many cases of COVID-19 for teams, Premier League coverage will take place on the USA Network on New Years Day. Arsenal meet league leaders Manchester City at 7:30 AM ET before Watford meet Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace meet West Ham. Sunday’s match between Everton and Brighton comes, before Chelsea host Liverpool in a confrontation between the contenders for the title.
Switching to the USA network shouldn’t change much for Peacock users. Overflow Games will remain on that platform, including three games scheduled to air on Peacock Premium on Sunday. Some of the bigger games will continue to air on major NBC, and the NBCU will continue to broadcast every Premier League game across its multiple platforms.
It is not yet clear if there are plans to stream Surplus games on other NBCU networks. On the final day of the 2020-21 season, when all 10 games kicked off at the same time, USA Network, CNBC and Golf Channel each broadcast one game.
