Shure’s Aonic 40 ANC Headphones Offer and Custom EQ for $249

Building up on the Aonic 50 headphones that debuted at CES 2020, Shure today announced an affordable noise-cancelling option. With the Aonic 40, the company offers a similar design to its premium model, keeping its adjustable active noise cancellation (ANC) and onboard controls with slightly longer battery life than the 2020 version.

Although the Aonic 40 will debut at $150 less than its older brother two years ago, the new model looks no less premium. Opting for a combination of aluminum and nylon, Shure revised the Aonic 50’s silver and black or silver and white/brown color schemes. The 40’s earcups swivel flat and fold inward for easy storage, making them a travel-friendly option.

Shure says that you can expect its “distinguished sound” along with a fully customizable EQ via the ShurePlus Play app on Android and iOS. This program will allow you to save any created settings for future access. The app also allows you to choose from three ANC options as well as adjust the environment mode (ambient sound). Shure also says that the software is equipped with an HD music player that works with the Aonic 40.

As is usually the case with headphones these days, Shure ups the call quality thanks to the dual beamforming microphones. Onboard controls will allow you to easily answer these questions, as well as volume adjustments and access to both surround sound and ANC options. The company says you’ll get up to 25 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation turned on — up from 20 hours on the Aonic 50. Plus, the fast charging option can provide five hours of use in 15 minutes.

The Aonic 40 is now available in black and white color options for $249.
