You won’t have to wait any longer to see a production version of Volkswagen’s honest identity with quality. Volkswagen Group President Herbert Diess announce His company will launch the Incarnate Microbus on March 9th. He didn’t share more than a sketch, but Volkswagen’s testing of a self-driving prototype indicates that the final truck won’t lose many design cues from the nostalgic-inspired concept.
ID.Buzz is expected to launch in Europe later in 2022, and hit US shores in 2023. You’ll have to “settle down” to the passenger-focused long wheelbase model in the US where Europeans will get short wheelbase and commercial models . Europe is also likely to get a self-driving option. Entry models can start with rear-wheel drive models that deliver up to 200 hp, while the top range can include all-wheel drive and 300 hp. You may see up to three battery capacities.
The Buzz may not be as widely marketed as the ID.4 and other more traditional models, but it could still be one of the most important Volkswagen EVs. Like the Beetle, VW’s microbus design remains iconic. Buzz could act as a halo vehicle that draws buyers into the brand’s comprehensive EV range, even if they eventually settle on another model.
