Where to find the Superworm Trail in England in 2022

Sharing means caring!

If your little explorers love the Superworm by Julia Donaldson, they’ll probably have been glued to TV for the animated version on Christmas Day. Why not pursue this with an outdoor adventure by visiting one of the new Superworm trails at Forestry England locations this year? In this post, I share where to find them in 2022.

If you’ve followed any of the Forestry England and Magic Light Pictures trails before you know they are packed with activities and fun facts to help keep your kids motivated while walking through the beautiful woods.

We’ve had a lot of fun doing the Gruffalo, Stickman and Zog tracks in Devon and Cornwall in previous years.

the Superworm trail 2022

In this latest track based on the popular picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, kids will be able to learn about the unsung heroes of the jungle.

Along the way they will meet characters from the Superworm story, such as a toad, ladybug, and magical lizard, and discover their amazing abilities as they make their home in the woods.

The path is self led and includes brightly illustrated panels filled with activities, facts and questions about the little monsters in the woods and jungle.

How much time would it take?

The walkway should keep the kids entertained for about an hour.

We know from experience that the trail near us in Haldon Forest Par is 1.5 miles long, so it’s not much of a challenge for little legs.

Super Worm Activity Packs

While you can walk down the aisle and find activity boards for free, you can also purchase a Superworm activity pack.

This costs £3.50 and includes:

  • Extra activities to do at home

  • Pencil and crayon.

You can purchase an activity pack from each information point in a participating Forestry England website.

When will the path of the super worm open?

Superworm Trail release dates vary at each Forestry England location, so check their websites for more information. I’ve included a list of participating sites and links to their websites arranged by English County below.
